성경을 상식으로 읽지 않으면 심각한 오류를 낳는다
롬 2:8에 죄의 뿌리인 자아중심을 바울 사도가 지적하고 있는데, 우리말 번역과 흠정역은 여기서 오역으로 "분란", "당파심" 등으로 번역하고 있는 바, 아래에 나타나 있듯이 58개 영역 가운데 흠정역을 포함해 16개 번역본이 그런 오역을 하고 있다. 이 번역본을 낼 때에는 나름대로 헬라어 원문에 능통한 전문가가 동원되었을 터인데 "자아중심"으로 번역한 쪽이 3배 가까이 된다는 것과 우리가 상식적으로 판단해도 한낱 당파심 한 가지만 멸망에 이를 죄의 근본을 대표적으로 표현할 리도 없음을 감안하면 "자아중심"이 옳다는 것으로 판단되며 그 외의 것은 제대로 짚은 해석이 아니므로 "오역"이라 판정하기를 서슴지 않는 것이다. 전에도 한 번 소개한 글이지만 다시 강조할 필요성을 느껴 올리는 것.
